Day after the hurrican of 1987 I had to get to work with roads blocked and delays everywhere, a Saturday too but if you wanted to get anywhere out of town, you basically had to walk. Plus, a job I hated for a boss I loathed. This song came to mind.
lyrics
First Person:
"I find the rain calming, don't you? It helps to reflect times once when there was freedom enough; to take an evening stroll through the dusk, into dark. Carrying a zippo high to light the way through Cwmdonkin park.
Subject:
Don't know what it is, I came here looking for.
This millstone's getting harder, to drag across the floor.
Freezing from the inside out, my skin is turning blue,
haven't got a clue, what it is I"m 'sposed to do.
Walking everyday, do you think I ought to run?
Get a grip or let it slip, ya gonna have to choose
I'm not your perfect stranger, got nothing left to loose.
Can you say, what it is I should have found,
Moving forward, drag my feet across the ground
Never more, never more, it aint so sweet,
'cause all I seem to do these days is work and sleep
I'd like to break the habit, but the rythm's got me beat.
Got holes in my pockets, holes in my shoes.
Holes in my story where the truth has been abused.
All I seem to do these days is go to work and sleep.
I'd like to break the habit, but the rythm's got me beat.
Can you say, what it is I should have found?
First Person: You out to run...
Subject: I gotta run!
